First roadshow – Training for veterinary drug stores in Dong Thap province

From 07-18 September, 2020. The ViParc project conducted the first training roadshow targeting veterinary drug stores within Dong Thap province. The roadshows reached owners and staff of 195 veterinary drug stores in Dong Thap province and it was focused on discussions on how to the reduction excessive antibiotic use in animal production. The training content presented by experts and complemented by training videos of these topics below:

1) The problem of excessive AMU; impact of AMR in humans and animals (with the input of infectious disease medical doctor Dr Lam Minh Yen from the Hospital of Tropical Diseases, Ho Chi Minh City) here

2) Introduction to the WHO list of critically important antimicrobials; – MSc. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung –ViParc veterinary researcher (OUCRU) here 

3) Current legislation about antimicrobials and AMR as well as the Vietnamese National Action Plan to control Antimicrobial Resistance for Vietnam – Dr.Pawin Padungtod (ECTAD Team Leader, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Hanoi) here

4) Practical measures to control diseases and reduce AMU on poultry (Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, Poultry Specialist, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Hanoi) here

5) Practical measures to control diseases and reduce AMU on poultry (Dr.Ho Thi Viet Thu, lecturer in Infectious Diseases, Can Tho University) here

In addition, demographic information on the veterinary drug stores was collected, as well as feedback from participants in order to develop new content and training plans for the coming roadshows.

The veterinary drug stores provided first roadshow’s certification from Dong Thap Sub-Department of Animal Health
