ViParc Research Results Presented at ISVEE15 in Chiang Mai, Thailand
Chiang Mai, Thailand, 12-16 November 2018
Three OUCRU researchers presented results from the ViParc project at the 15th International Symposium of Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics, held in Chiang Mai, Thailand on the 12-16th November 2018 (www.isvee15.net).
Dr. Juan Carrique-Mas, ViParc Principal Investigator, gave a presentation on mathematical models that were able to predict antimicrobial failure based on disease symptoms and antimicrobial use data in chicken farms.
Van Nguyen Thi Bich, laboratory technician, gave an oral presentation describing the species of helminth and their burdens in chicken farms in the Mekong Delta.
Dr. Bao Truong Dinh, veterinary economist, presented a poster with results from his studies using Participatory Epidemiology aiming at identifying attitudes and drivers of antimicrobial use among poultry farmers in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.
Prof. Jonathan Rushton and Dr. Alexis Ribas, ViParc collaborators, also attended ISVEE15.
The Symposium was an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences with veterinary researchers from all over the globe on how to tackle animal diseases in general and antimicrobial resistance in particular.
