VIDA-PIG: New project on AMR in pig production in Vietnam
Hanoi, Vietnam, 2 March 2018
Juan Carrique-Mas attended the Inception Workshop of the “Health and Antibiotics in Vietnamese Pig Production” (VIDA-PIG Project), hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) on March 2nd in Hanoi. The project, funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) is a very much needed initiative that aims to understand how and why antimicrobials are used in pig production, in order to implement sustainable interventions. The project, initially to be carried out over the next two years, will also address the major health issues affecting pig farms. Pork is currently the most important type of meat consumed in Vietnam. Partners of this research initiative are the National Institute of Veterinary Research (NIVR), the Institute of Livestock Research (ILRI), the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) and the University of Copenhagen. The ViParc team wholeheartedly wishes VIDA-PIG a great success!
